On March 28, 2025, the Panda Base launched a month-long “Bird Love Week” popular science campaign for the public under the theme “Love for Our Friends with Feathers”.
At the plaza outside the Giant Panda Museum, the popular science exhibition area bustled with crowds, all captivated by the story of the short-toed eagle’s feather renewal cycle; The “I Am a Bird Defender” fun interactive bird-collision-prevention game area buzzed with excitement as participants gleefully acquired scientific bird-collision-prevention methods in the lighthearted environment; Popular science videos were continuously broadcasted on the Museum’s large-format digital displays, vividly illustrating environmental protection information; The popular science salons, conducted both online and offline, served as an enlightening gateway for the public to gain deeper insights into the avian world.
At the Swan Lake, researchers conducted live demonstrations of the popular science knowledge related to bird banding. Through hands-on displays and sharing of bird banding tools and methods, the public acquired precise understanding of how bird banding serves as a critical role in bird migration studies.
These events have drawn active public participation, heightening the public’s ecological conservation awareness about understanding, caring for, and protecting birds. They’ve also encouraged the adoption of environmentally-friendly lifestyles, enabling collective contributions to safeguarding avian species and their natural habitats.
