On May 19, 2016, thePanda Is Art Tour sponsored by the Basewas launchedat Ocean Park, Hong Kong.At the launch ceremony, a songfor giant pandasAccompany You Home, sung byLaolang, the“father of Chinese school folk songs”, was performed in public for the first time. Thissong was produced by a group of senior musicians, consisting of the supervisor Huang Xiaomao, a popular musician who produced countless classic songs; the lyricist Liang Mang, who composed lyrics for many theme songs from blockbuster movies; and the composer Luan Shu, afamous singer-songwriter.

Huang Xiaomao, the production director of this song, shared the original intention of Accompany You Home, “MiMi, the Giant Pandasin the 1980s made the world aware of giant panda conservation. Today, the relationship between humansand giant pandas has changed dramatically.Now, to commemorate and record our new journey to conserve giant pandas,I created this songAccompany You Home.

As the population of giant pandas in captivity grows, the methods to rejuvenate wild populations and avoid the extinction of small populations in fragmented habitats are on the agenda. It is better to teach people to fish than to give a fish, and the same is true for giant panda conservation. Giant pandas must not only survive, but also master the skills for “going home”. Consequently, on January 11, 2012, the Panda Valley - Dujiangyan Field Research Center for Giant Pandas of the Base, was established. Now, the world’s largest captive giant panda breeding population has begun its way home.
