At this moment of celebrating the festival with lanterns and festoons hung up, the Panda Tower is surrounded in a festive and lively atmosphere.

The second term of “Our Studio—Creative Workshop” is coming.

On January 14 (this year’s Chinese Minor New Year), the second term of “Our Studio-Creative Workshop” “Our Lucid Water and Lush Mountains” kicked off. Twenty students gathered at the Chengdu Panda Base with full expectations to watch the pandas, listen to lectures, and create paintings on the spot under professional art guidance, with their own wild imagination. This activity is hosted by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, with the theme of “Our Lucid Water and Lush Mountains”, to welcome the arrival of the New Year together!

As early as two months ago, the Base launched the “New Year’s Super Favorite Fan” welfare activity, inviting everyone to visit the Base on New Year’s Eve in the name of cute giant pandas! Recruitment for the second term of “Our Studio—Creative Workshop” has also started. Many netizens signed up, while 20 lucky ones gathered here at last.

Finally, in order to reflect the concept of green environmental protection, the students used white T-shirts as the carrier of painting creation to reduce the use of paper. Based on the acquired knowledge and practical observations, everyone turned their wonderful ideas into paintings through their unique ways of expression and creation skills such as realism, abstraction, and comics, and other distinctive styles.

Teachers’ comments

Everyone shared their works and feelings in a joyful atmosphere. Teacher Liu Fei made detailed comments on the works of each student.

Students’ feelings

Through this themed activity, the students said that they have gained more knowledge about environmental protection, and deeper love of nature, and they would pay closer attention to the ecological environment. It is meaningful to express their love for nature in the form of painting T-shirts, as artistic expression can be diverse, fun as well as rewarding.

“Our Studio” Youth Creative Workshop was initiated and established by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on August 18, 2020. Based on the cultural and artistic resources of the “Panda Art Museum”, it serves as a platform for giant panda cultural and artistic creation and exchange, open to young people aged 6-18.
