On January 9, the Chart Cryogenic Equipment (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Chart") Donation Ceremony was organized in the Second VIP Room of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Tan Hongming, Deputy Secretary of the Base; Mr. Grady Walker, Western Hemisphere President of the Storage and Transportation Division of Chart Industries; Mr. Jeff Dresow, Director of the Engineering Department; and representatives of Chart Chengdu attended both the signing and donation ceremonies on the same day.
Chart Cryogenic Equipment (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. was invested and founded by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1976. It is now a specialized manufacturer of liquid nitrogen containers affiliated to Chart Industries in the United States. With more than 40 years of continuous development, it has become a company with diversified products and a wide range of production and sales among similar product manufacturers in the country. As a Chinese “national treasure”, giant pandas have attracted significant global attention. Chart has long been concerned with the breeding of giant pandas in China. Consequently, Chart on this occasion donated a batch of liquid nitrogen container equipment to the Base. The Base has the largest biological sample bank of genetic resources collected from captive giant pandas in the world. The donated liquid nitrogen container equipment can be used to permanently preserve such resources through cryogenic freezing technology (-196°C in liquid nitrogen). The team of experts believes that the donation from Chart not only provides financial support for research on the protection and breeding of endangered and rare species such as giant pandas, but also offers a solid guarantee for the conservation of genetic resources from giant pandas and the promotion of the sustainable development of giant pandas and other endangered species.
Mr. Grady Walker, Western Hemisphere President of the Storage and Transportation Division of Chart Industries, delivered a speech at the beginning of this ceremony. He said that Chart would donate its independently-developed liquid nitrogen container equipment to the Base, thus hoping to contribute to future research and the development of giant panda protection. At the same time, Mr. Grady Walker also expressed the hope that geographical separation would be ignored in the dissemination of the culture of giant panda, so as to strike a chord among people from different cultural backgrounds in the world. He expressed the desire that more and more people in various countries would love giant pandas, understand giant pandas and join in the cause of protecting them.
Deputy Secretary Tan Hongming thanked Chart for its strong support to the Base. In his speech, he said that the donation from Chart is a positive demonstration to every sector of the society, and has made us once again feel the high sense of social responsibility of social enterprises, and also reflects the contribution of Chart to the global panda protection cause. Mr. Tan subsequently signed a donation agreement with Chart on behalf of the Base and issued a Donation Certificate. Both parties expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation and enhance friendship through the donation ceremony, so that more companies including the public can better understand the environment in which giant pandas grow and by so doing care for their healthy growth. Moreover, a growing number of companies and individuals shall be called upon to participate in protecting endangered species, thereby creating a beautiful home with the core value of pandas, which is “harmony is precious”.
