Chengdu Pandas Begin the New Year of Twins Cheering for the World Cup.

On the morning of June 15, 2018, the panda Aili at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding successfully gave birth to a pair of male twins. The older twin weighed in at 163.8g and the younger at 136.5. The mother and the twins are doing well. They are the first male pair born in 2018 in Chengdu and also the third pair of twin pandas born in 2018 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
Aili’s water broke at 9:53 a.m., and she gave birth to her twins at 10:19 a.m. and 11:07 a.m. It Aili’s first time as a mother. After childbirth, Aili held her babies and licked them, illustrating her strong maternal instinct.
Yesterday, the much-anticipated 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia kicked off. Today, Aili successfully gave birth to male twins to cheer on the World Cup. We wish the twins a healthy life, like the athletes competing in the Cup this year.
